GIFT

Grandmothers in Faith Together Retreat Day:
Becoming 'Bread" for Our Families
Saturday, November 8, 2014;
9:30am to 4:00pm

The Book of Ruth and writer/activist Dorothy Day: What do these two women have in common? Did you know Ruth's only child, a daughter had nine children? Dorothy Day was grandmother of nine! Both were grandmothers and both spent their lives becoming "bread" for others. Ruth gleaned the harvest in Bethlehem (which means "House of Bread') and Dorothy Day established houses of bread to feed the hungry. What can we learn from these two women that will help us provide spiritual food for our children and grandchildren? Join us for a day devoted to "Becoming Bread for our Families." Share your own grandmother stories in the company of women who understand. Bring 2-4 photos of your grandchildren to share.
Presenter Ann Cavera: In addition to being a mother and grandmother of four grandchildren, Ann Cavera has been a Peace Corps volunteer, teacher, college admissions counselor and Religious Education Director. She has a Master's Degree in Education from the University of Evansville and a Master's Degree in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University. For fourteen years she and her husband Jim wrote "The Second Half," an award winning column for people of faith in the second half of life. Currently, they write "Grounded in God," a monthly column for the Catholic Chronicle for the Diocese of Toledo. They are also the authors of Grounded in God, a book of reflections published by Liguori Press.
Cost: $35 (includes morning snack and lunch--Registration is required.)
