July 18-19: Summer Overnight Retreat "Finding God in Our Own Back Yard"; begins Friday with supper at 5:30pm and ends at 3:00pm on Saturday. Is caring For God's Creation just another item on the long list of "shoulds"? Or could it be something more? Facilitated by author and organic farmer Kyle Kramer, this retreat will help participants learn to care about Creation not just as an urgent moral necessity, but as an exciting spiritual adventure with the Author of nature. Conference Retreat
Pausing to Grow in Awareness
Sunday, July 20 at 5:30pm (begins with supper) to 10:30am Friday, July 25, 2014

Spirituality has been defined by the spiritual masters as "the growing in awareness that we are more than what we think we are…that deep within us is our spiritual center, God's presence, the source of our blessedness." In order to truly live, they say, means to be aware of this blessedness and to act out of it. This retreat seeks to search out ways to become aware of what is indeed deep within us, namely, the very presence of God. With the insights of some spiritual giants such as Meister Eckhart, Anthony de Mello, Karl Rahner, Ronald Rolheiser, John Shea and others, this retreat seeks to help its participants realize their blessedness by removing the obstacles they/we hold on to which conceal the Kingdom of God within. Thus we will spend some time trying to discover what hides this blessedness from us. This retreat takes a down-to-earth approach to spirituality and is conducted in a narrative, storytelling style.
Presenter: Fr. James Friedel is a member of the Order of St. Augustine (Augustinians) and has served in several ministries including director and associate director for the Marriage & Family Life Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago, director of his province's graduate theology program, and pastor in a Chicago parish for thirteen years. Since 1990 Fr. Jim has been conducting parish missions and retreats throughout the United States and Canada.
Cost: $475 Overnight/ Commuter $245 (Commuter rate includes lunch and supper.)
